My body is a temple.

So Jayden got some Shrek tattoos for his birthday and I put them on the kids, they thought they were great and I thought they were fun, until.... Jocey started talking about getting "real" ones that don't wash off. I had a talk with her about how our bodies and special, sacred gifts from our Heavenly Father and we should treat them like temples. I'm not sure if any of it sunk in. After our talk I told her to go up to Daddy and quote a line from one of our favs, "Sons of Provo" and it went like this- Jocey: "Daddy, my body is a temple and you ain't got no recommend"
Jerrod: uncontrollable laughter then, "Did Mommy tell you to say that?!!!"
Oh well, maybe I'm fostering the idea of permanent tattoos with fake ones, maybe I'll be regretting it when my kids are 18 and their bodies are pierced and tattooed!!!

Oh boy....this is right up my alley, Thank you Megan...TATTOOS...Nana has two real ones but there is story behind these my little darlings. Your Daddy did not want me to get any real ones until after he graduated from High School when he was 18, well, I had them done 5 months earlier and your Daddy was "mad" at me. He couldn't believe "his mother" doing this at my age. So Jocie, Jayden & Jeffery DON'T do the REAL ones...fake ones are the best because you can wash them off and change them whenever you want!!! You can learn from me not to make that mistake and treat your body as God's temple.

Isn't it so hard to deal with things as simple as fake tattoos? I've had this debate in my head over sleeveless outfits for Ella-- & she is only one month old. Are they okay? Will they teach her to be immodest? Yikes!

Hi Megan! This Anna Cordner, I hope you remember Ben and I from the BYUI family ward. I 'happened' upon your blog and oh my! Your kids have grown so much and they're still so cute! That's crazy how 'big issues' seem to come up when they're still so small. I don't even have a game plan with my little guy yet ... roll with the punches I guess, I don't know! But anyway, I hope y'all are doing well!

Here's my game plan for my two princesses: Don't do anything that's going to break your Daddy's heart! That includes dating, tattoo's, moving away, etc. Of course they'll always obey those simple rules!

Unbelievable! I think kids are so wonderful...you know at keeping us in check. Anyway, I love that Jerrod totally knew you set her up to that. Very silly! Good luck! We all hope our kids are not permanently damaged by our parenting, at least I do. I love Jon's simple rules! Good plan.
